Abay Opera and Ballet Theatre

The Abay Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre is one of Almaty’s most beautiful landmarks and a major cultural center. Opened in 1944, it is built in the neoclassical style and hosts opera, ballet, and symphonic performances. The theatre is named after the great Kazakh poet and philosopher Abay Qunanbayuly and remains a symbol of the city’s artistic life.

Opening hours: Box office — Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 – 19:00. Monday — closed.
